# Infrastructure Baseline Verification
## Overview
On February 27, 2026, the initial infrastructure baseline for the `mw-pfeddersheim-workstation` was successfully applied and verified. This process ensured that the workstation adheres to the saTway standards and is ready for higher-level configurations.
## Verification Results
### 1. Ansible Playbook Execution
The `ansible/workstation.yml` playbook was executed first in `--check` mode and then applied.
- **Status**: Success
- **Key Changes**:
- Optimized kernel parameters (`swappiness`, `inotify`, `cache_pressure`).
- Configured `logind` for faster user transitions.
- Installed core dev tools (ripgrep, fd, jq, etc.).
- Cleaned up legacy VS Code remnants and local AI artifacts.
- Verified system maintenance tasks (package cache and journal vacuuming).
### 2. Maintenance Script (`scripts/maintenance.sh`)
The enhanced maintenance script (v1.1.0) was used to perform deep cleaning and health checks.
- **Status**: Success
- **Actions Performed**:
- Checked for system updates (clean).
- Vacuumed systemd journal logs.
- Pruned Arch package cache.
- **Removed 15 orphaned packages** (Total Removed Size: 387.50 MiB), including legacy headers and obsolete tools.
- Pruned Docker system data and volumes.
- Pruned `pnpm` global store (Removed 856 files).
- Verified repository status (clean on `feat/initial-baseline`).
## Technical Improvements
- **Non-destructive Check Mode**: The maintenance script now supports `--check`, allowing for safe audits.
- **Robust Error Handling**: Resolved issues with `checkupdates` exit codes and permission requirements for cache size calculations.
- **Conflict Resolution**: Successfully handled `code-marketplace` conflicts during tool management.
## Baseline State
The workstation is now in a stable, clean state with a documented baseline. Disk usage is optimized (76% utilized), and all core automation tools are functional.
## Next Steps
- Finalize the `feat/initial-baseline` branch and merge if applicable.
- Proceed with dotfiles management and advanced developer environment setup.
